Award for Common Good

On June 5th of 2005, Ellie Bluestein was given an award that was created by an alliance of Fresno area interfaith organizations. The Carl and Esther Robinson Award for the Common Good was named after two community members committed to social justice. Carl Robinson, 87 and Esther, 86, were in attendance to be honored for the award that was created in their name. The Carl and Esther Robinson Award for the Outstanding Advocate for the Common Good is to focus community attention on the value of the common good, a vaule that is in distinct contrast to powerful forces in our society that run in the opposite direction. These include the many commercial and political pressures that focus on and reward narrow self-interest instead of concern for the whole.
